Let’s Talk About the Nanny

This is my first time using a nanny in The Sims 4, and I honestly don’t know what to think. I did some searching online and found that people’s experiences with the Sims 4 nanny vary widely, but are mostly bad.

I hired the nanny after Morgan divorced Joaquin Le Chien. Morgan is working towards a long-term career goal I’m excited about, and I didn’t want their job performance to be impaired by having to care for a baby.

I was under the impression I would be hiring a nanny for a 24-hour period, but it’s been like 10 in-game days, and she’s still here.

When I moved Morgan and Henry into a new house, the nanny came with them. Upon reflection, this should have been my first sign of trouble. Typically you have to re-hire services if you move into a new house. For example, Morgan had a maid at the last house, and the maid didn’t automatically move with them.

Every time Morgan gets home from work, the nanny gives him the same automatic greeting.

The nanny doesn’t sleep, eat, bathe, use the bathroom, or leave the house. Ever. In her spare time, she sits on the couch and watches television.

I would be more concerned about this situation, but she’s doing a great job with Henry. She immediately tends to all his needs.

If I have one quibble with her performance, it’s that she doesn’t do any of the Milestone actions like teaching Henry to stand, or helping Henry walk.

I’m curious to see how this plays out. Is she a robot? Will she get old? Can she die? I’ll keep you posted!
