Welcome to the Spline-itrail

After moving the family to three new houses in a row and being dissatisfied with each, I decided to build a home from scratch.

I usually like to make somewhat realistic homes. I have a stack of books on real-world architectural styles, floor plans, and home designs. I browsed through these but felt the call to build something really weird.

It’s been a while since I built a weird house. Aside from various one-off experiments, the last time I built something weird and lived in it was the Superbunker in… 2011? Can that be right? That can’t be right. (It’s right.)

Located in the prestigious hills overlooking Del Sol Valley, this mansion is inspired by the humble Habitrail. It features two wings, which are connected by two separate glass-enclosed structures. One is a simple sky bridge accessible via ladders, and the other is a larger connecting living space.

I know it’s a little hard to make sense of visually. It’s also hard to make sense of it when you’re playing it. I’m taking my time decorating the rooms, which means the dining room, nursery, and fancy bathroom with walk-in shower look great.

But everyone else has to sleep on single beds in unfinished rooms.

Except for one of the Regé-Jean Pages, who chose to sleep fully clothed in the hot tub I accidentally left in the backyard.

At least he’s warm?
