New Digs, New Duds

If you have been following me for very long, you have probably caught on to the fact that I am terrible at dressing Sims. When pressed, I will just click the Random button until I find an outfit that makes me smile, and then my Sim is stuck with it forever.

I was bemoaning my inability to find a cute winter outfit for Cordelia, when my Sims-playing friend Erin offered to dress her for me. We worked out a complicated system whereby we would "swap" Cordelias through the Gallery. My friend spent several hours giving Cordelia a complete makeover, and she looks A M A Z I N G.

Did you know you can set multiple outfits for the same slot? I truly had no idea. Every day when Cordelia changes clothes, it's a new set. My friend created FIVE OUTFITS FOR EACH, and she did an incredible job!

If you're thinking about doing this, I must caution you: when you swap a Sim like this, they lose everything in their inventory, all their relationship connections, and all their skill levels. If you send your friend your Sim, you'll get a blank slate back.

I was fine with that, but you might not be.

Luckily she had only just started out with Darren, so she didn't lose much ground there, relationship-wise. He stayed up late one night, and she had to put him to bed three times, and then he woke up in the middle of the night from a bad dream and came and cried until she put him to bed a fourth time.

The next morning while he slept in, she took the opportunity to work on her freelance writing career. She needs to be able to financially support those giant paintings, you know!

The city living experience continues, with exciting events like "banging on your neighbor's door at 2 a.m. because they're fighting." Yay.

So, about this apartment. I know the first thing most players would do is swap out all the furniture, repaint the walls, and replace all the kitchen cabinets. But have you ever rented a furnished apartment? I have, and you can't just go around getting rid of stuff! The landlord gets mad!

HOWEVER. This apartment did not come with a dishwasher, and for some reason Cordelia refused to wash the dishes in the sink. The best I could get her to do was go around and collect them all. Then she set the stack on the coffee table, and went back to dancing to the boombox.

So I finally broke down and bought a dishwasher. Not exactly kosher to install a dishwasher in an apartment you're renting, but she didn't really leave me any choice.
