Funny, the things that are forgotten or elided with time. For example, we all think of Bob and Betty Newbie as a married couple, but they are not. Not to start, anyway. And it’s making my life difficult.
If you start The Sims by playing the tutorial, you are first introduced to Bob Newbie. A slob in a stained t-shirt who is frankly just doing his best, like all the rest of us.

After you jump through a few tutorial hoops, the game adds Betty Newbie to your household. Betty and Bob start out as two strangers who, for reasons unknown, share a home and a last name. They won’t share a bed, though, because – as previously mentioned – they are strangers.
Their lack of a relationship is a problem because their house only has one bed. And since you start the game with only $650 in the bank, you can’t afford to buy another one. (I did shell out for a transparent plastic inflatable chair, though. I’m not made of stone!)

Bob and Betty aren’t even particularly compatible. Which is probably why, when I played The Sims 25 years ago, I ditched Betty and had Bob start an affair with Mortimer Goth.
This time around, Betty deserves better. But what to do about Bob?
There doesn’t seem to be a way to kick a Sim out of a house, move them out voluntarily, delete them, or anything. (The cheats in this game are terrible. Everything other than rosebud is a bunch of useless garbage.)
So I guess I need to kill Bob?

In the meantime, please enjoy the stunning aesthetics of the Landgraab Mall. Timeless, classy, and a treat for the senses!
