The 25th anniversary Legacy Edition of The Sims includes the Makin’ Magic expansion pack, which means you can earn money by making Nectar.
- Nectar is profitable.
- The higher your Sim’s Cooking skill, the more they earn from selling nectar.
- My Sim is earning $322 per batch at Cooking skill 6.
- Unlike a career, you don’t need to maintain friendships to make nectar.
- All you need is equipment and ingredients.
Nectar Equipment
Required equipment
- Item: A Pressing Feeling Nectar tub.
- Cost: $599
- Catalog: Buy Mode > Click “Buy Mode” icon a second time to sort by room > Outdoors > Miscellaneous.
Optional equipment
- Item: Wax ‘N Honey Maker
- Cost: $875
- Catalog: Buy Mode > Click “Buy Mode” icon a second time to sort by room > Outdoors > Miscellaneous.
- Use this to harvest your own honey instead of buying honey from the vendor. Also produces beeswax. May be fatal if angry bees swarm.
Nectar Ingredients
All Nectar ingredients are available for sale from a vendor in Magic Town. The vendor is found in Coldwind Meadow, 95 Calamity Forest.
NOTE: You can only buy one item at a time. Yes, this is tedious.
Grapes and Elderberries
The Magic Town vendor sells grapes for $30 and elderberries for $15. You can use these to make nectar, but you cannot plant them to grow more.
A better option is to buy a grape vine sprig for $60 and an elderberry sprig for $30 and grow your own. One of each is enough to start with.
NOTE: You can only plant grapes and elderberries in the As The Plot Thickens garden plot. You cannot plant them in the Insta-Plot Victory Garden plot. These are found in Build Mode > Plant Tool.
Honey
You can buy honey for $20 from the vendor in Magic Town. Another option is to buy a Wax ‘N Honey Maker and harvest your own honey.
Sugar
You can buy sugar for $8 from the vendor in Magic Town. If there is another option for obtaining sugar, I haven’t found it yet.
Nectar Recipes
The three basic recipes all sell for the same price. The price varies based on your Sim’s Cooking skill.
- Grape Nectar: 2 grapes, 1 sugar
- Elderberry Nectar: 2 elderberry, 1 sugar
- Honey Nectar: 1 grape, 1 honey, 1 sugar
You can also make Magic Nectar with 2 grapes and 1 toad sweat. This nectar temporarily turns your Sim into a ghost.
